I am a screenwriter. Most of my work has been done in the
research-intensive historical and biopic realms, including “For Love or
Country” and “Boycott” for HBO. I have worked with a number of
researchers, and Victor Mancilla is one of the best.
Victor Mancilla was my researcher on one film project, “The Legend of the
Volcanoes” and a TV mini-series I’m developing for HBO, “The Last
Conquistador”. He contributed enormously to both projects, bringing
historical accuracy and cultural nuance that I never could have managed on
my own. He possesses a wealth of information, and crucially, he
understands the creative process. Knowing what I was trying to convey in
both projects, he constantly fed me with gems that were in alignment with
those goals. He has a fresh mind and is a joy to work with – which I hope
to do again soon.
